A letter from the North Carolina Attorney General's Office was sent to the Federal Aviation Administration after the FAA requested that the AG's office issue an opinion about the Charlotte Airport Control Bill.
The Attorney General's Office stated it can't issue an opinion on the pending lawsuit since it represents the state.
The office said it can only reiterate what it has presented in court.
The letter said the new commission wouldn't take control of the airport away from the city, because the commission would still be an entity of the city.
The airport is still under city control because of a court injunction.
The new commission is working to get the go-ahead from the FAA to start running the airport.
