CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Waxhaw police are trying to figure out whether they will charge a driver who hit a man walking from the scene of another accident on Tuesday.
Police said around 4:50 p.m. on Cuthberson Road, a 17-year-old boy was hit by a car while riding his bike along Cuthberson Road. Waxhaw Assistant Fire Chief Lee Bright was among the people who responded to the call.
"His injuries were minor, and we treated him. We were finishing up with him when a bystander came running up and alerted us there was another incident down the road about 100 yards," Bright said.
Police said a man who had witnessed the boy being hit had just finished giving officers a statement and was walking back to his car when another car hit him.
Bright said the impact of the second crash knocked the man over the side of a bridge and into a creek 25 feet below.
Emergency crews were able to quickly help both victims, who are expected to be okay.
Police said both drivers stayed on the scene. Waxhaw police said the driver who hit the boy on the bike will likely not be charged.
The second crash, involving the witness, is still under investigation.
Firefighters said that stretch of Cuthberson Road is not a problem area for accidents.
