SOUTH CAROLINA —

A Clemson biologist said a mild winter has threatened South Carolina's peach crop.

He said the harvest could be late or nonexistent, but that this week's arctic air did help.

Each year, the state harvests $60 million worth of peaches.

It is the second highest producer in the U.S. behind California.
