BURLINGTON, N.C. —

A Democratic candidate running for North Carolina's house apologized on Tuesday for her drunken driving arrest over the weekend.

Patty Phillips was stopped around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning in Burlington.

Police said she blew a .15 percent in a breath test, which is almost twice the legal limit.

Phillips is running for District 63, which is made up of parts of Alamance County.
