Police surrounded Damien Cousart's home on Montrose Street in southeast Charlotte after they said he was robbed at gunpoint inside.
Concerned neighbors looked on as officers searched for evidence.
"It's quite disturbing to tell you the truth, to look out your window and see all these cars out here," said neighbor Delores Guy.
After the scene cleared, Cousart told Channel 9 how it all started.
"I was just getting out of the car and a young man asked me for a cigarette," he said.
Cousart said that's when the man pulled out a gun and forced him inside his house. "I told him I have a roommate with a 3-year-old son. I said, 'You sure you want to do this?' Cousart said. "He said just shut up and go in the house."
His roommate and the toddler were sleeping in another room. With a gun to his head, Cousart stayed quiet so they wouldn't wake up and risk being hurt.
He said the gunman tied him up with a fan cord and stole the gun out of his bedroom, as well as cash and other items, before driving off in Cousart's very distinct 2006 silver Ford Taurus on rims. "It's Panthers on the driver's side. It has a Carolina Panther on the passenger side, has a Panthers tag in the front, has a Panthers logo on the back and has a Panthers wheel cover," Cousart described.
Although the car may be easy to spot, Cousart fears what could happen once the suspect is located especially since he could now be armed with two guns.
"I'm more afraid for him and whoever he comes in contact with because if a person has that mindset, you never know what they are capable of," he said.
The plate for stolen car is a North Carolina plate -- WTA-8448.
