A Charlotte man faces human trafficking charges and police said his wife is the victim.
Warrants from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department detail an undercover prostitution sting that ended with an arrest for human trafficking.
Eyewitness News is not identifying the man to protect the identity of the woman.
Warrants stated an undercover CMPD officer targeting escort services and pimps and went on backpage.com.
After calling a number in an ad, a woman answered and they met up at the Econolodge on Clanton Road.
The officer said the suspect was outside the hotel room and when police met the woman inside, he told her who he was, and she told him, her husband made her meet with clients.
According to the warrants, she told the officer "if she did not answer the phone her husband would assault her," and the victim also stated her husband "would hit her and sometimes choke her if she did not meet enough clients." Officers seized five cellphones.
The man is in the Mecklenburg County jail.
