CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
It looks like Charlotte may not receive federal help from the first grant it applied for to extend the streetcar project. The city applied for a Tiger grant that asked the Department of Transportation to provide 50 percent of the funding to extend the line to Johnson C. Smith University. A list of approved projects show only two in North Carolina are receiving funding. One is in Raleigh and the other in Goldsboro. The official list won't be released until Thursday. Charlotte City Manager Ron Carlee said once the official list is released, city officials will announce the next steps to fund the streetcar project.
