The woman whose affair with Gen. David Petraeus led to his resignation as CIA director has told a Charlotte civic club that veterans need help returning to civilian life.
Paula Broadwell of Charlotte told the group Tuesday the city can help veterans get jobs.
Broadwell said the Department of Veterans Affairs expects up to 10,000 veterans will move to Charlotte in the next 18 months.
She spoke briefly with reporters after the speech but would not answer questions about the scandal.
Broadwell would not talk about the possibility of a U.S. strike on Syria. But she said she's encouraged that President Obama might work with the United Nations and negotiate with Russian on control of Syria's chemical weapons.
Broadwell, her husband and two sons moved to Charlotte in 2009.
