CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Charlotte City Council members are considering a major upgrade to Charlotte Douglas Airport. City leaders are discussing the idea of building a fifth commercial runway. This comes after the FAA forced the airport to shut down one of its runways during certain hours. The new runway would allow more flights in and out of Charlotte each day.On Monday night, the interim aviation director will outline the plan for the council.A group trying to change the Citizen's Review Board told Eyewitness News it will be out in force at Monday night's meeting. The group said Police Chief Rodney Monroe has too much power when he decides cases against his officers.Several members are expected to give city leader's ideas for changing the review board. On Monday night, Charlotte City Council will consider condemning some property along the Lynx Blue Line extension route. That is because the city and the property owners could not reach an agreement that would have allowed the city to buy the land. Most of the nine pieces of land are along North Tryon Street.Once the property is condemned a judge or jury can determine how much the city should pay the owner.
