CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
The city of Charlotte will launch a campaign Monday aimed at keeping the public safer as they walk on sidewalks.
They are encouraging homeowners to keep trash cans, cars and other items off the sidewalks so people can get by safely.
They realize some people have limited space so the city wants to help come up with alternatives.
Officials may start hanging information on doors and placing it inside utility bills.
This comes after a Myers Park high school student died after his bicycle clipped a garbage can on the sidewalk.
He fell into Sharon Lane in south Charlotte and was hit by a tractor-trailer.
