DILWORTH, N.C. —
Charlotte City Council could decide Monday night whether to green-light plans to build a new Walgreens. Neighbors near the Dilworth intersection have been saying for weeks the area is too busy during rush hour for that type of business.Channel 9 reporter Andrew Doud noticed the plans have changed since the first proposal. One of the biggest changes is that there will be no left turns into the parking lot.The new pharmacy would be built at the corner of Kenilworth and Morehead streets where a historic house sits.According to the Charlotte Department of Transportation, the expected increased traffic would have a minor impact on the area.CDOT also looked at pharmacies with similar designs to address possible impacts on traffic.Last week a zoning committee approved plans for a redesigned exterior for the proposed pharmacy, more public open space and more distance between the pharmacy and existing residential homes.City Council is expected vote on the proposal Monday night.
