CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Charlotte city leaders have agreed on who they want as the next city manager.
Two sources tell Eyewitness News they know who they want to offer the job to and are now negotiating with that person. They still haven't released his name publicly.
It's between former Arlington County, Va., manager Ron Carlee, assistant city manager Ruffin Hall and deputy city manager Ron Kimble.
The mayor and council met behind closed doors about this for three hours past midnight Wednesday night. But they gave no official update after that. Publicly, they will only say they're making progress.
"You don't make that (decision) easily and you don't take it lightly,” Council member LaWana Mayfield said.
They say they're still on target to announce the next manager in a few days.
"This is a process and our process laid out that we would make a decision on Monday, and I think that we are going to stick to that timeframe,” Mayor Anthony Foxx said.
This is one of the rare cases in which the mayor gets to vote, but Foxx isn't saying who he supports.
