City manager to hear from budget committee after tax hike voted down

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Charlotte's city manager will hear from the budget committee Monday about its suggestions for next year.

The committee had to come up with an alternative after voting down a proposed tax hike last week.

The council needs to agree on a plan by the end of the month or at least come up with a temporary budget.

Otherwise, the government would shut down, but leaders said that is very unlikely.
