ROCKINGHAM, N.C. —
A Rockingham club has been shut down by state ABC officials after several violent incidents. ABC officials notified the owners of Club Suede earlier this month that the liquor license had been suspended. Authorities said since January, deputies had been called to the club more than two dozen times. In statements to the ABC, officers expressed fear they or a citizen would be killed. In the worst incident on April 27, authorities said nearly 700 people were involved in a massive brawl in and around the club. Authorities said one patron was cut; they also discovered a gun and drugs during their search. Eyewitness News was unsuccessful in attempts to reach the owner. Neighbors were happy the club's doors were closed. "If you run into a situation that's making your neighborhood unsafe, you address it and if you have to, shut it down," said resident Kazle Anthony.
