A day after acknowledging concern about the threat of anarchist groups at the Democratic National Convention, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police would not directly address what it would be doing to combat protest tactics revealed in a new video.
The video, dated Aug. 22, 2012, was again posted by "Anonymous" and urged protestors at the Republican National Convention to find ways to jam up police radios, listen to law enforcement on scanners and disable surveillance cameras in Tampa.
A federal advisory earlier this week indicated anarchist groups might not only be targeting Tampa, but Charlotte as well.
In the new video, the speaker says "corrupt corporate" entities should be targeted.
"These corporate places should be dealt with," said the speaker. "But the small businesses should be left alone unless, of course, there is a Mitt Romney sticker in their window. Ha ha ha."
Charlotte's major banking and energy corporations aren't taking any threats lightly. For multiple logistical and security reasons, the larger Uptown Charlotte banking offices of Wells Fargo and Bank of America will both be closed during the DNC.
Duke Energy tells us it will employ additional security during the DNC and, like several other major corporate structures Uptown, it will be surrounded by fencing.
