CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Grab your jackets as you head out the door this morning, because Wednesday is already the coldest morning of the season so far.
The temperature dipped to 19 degrees overnight and at 6 a.m., it had gone up slightly to 23 degrees.
It is the coldest morning since last February.
Temperatures will warm up in the afternoon, but barely reach the mid-40s by 4 p.m.
Light mountain snow is expected overnight into Thursday morning with up to an inch in the highest ridge tops.
The next weather system is headed to the area Friday with an expected late-morning arrival. This system could bring more wintry mix changing to light rain. Biggest impact in the mountains.
Temperatures are only expected to reach in the 30s Friday afternoon.
That system will clear out Friday evening. A warm-up is expected for the weekend.
