CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Mecklenburg County Commissioners took the first step to keep guns out of certain parts of public parks.
Under a new measure, people with concealed carry permits would no longer be able to have a gun near playgrounds, swimming pools and athletic facilities.
Signs will be placed at park entrances to let people know what areas are gun-free zones.
The commission will take a final vote in the measure later this month.
