CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
The heat that has scorched the area for nearly two weeks is about to come to an end … but not just yet.
The heat and steam Monday will remain high before a cold front enters the Carolinas over the next few days, meteorologist Keith Monday said.
As the front moves in, a better shot for storms arrives with it. Some of these storms will be severe with damaging winds and large hail.
Everyone will have the risk for big downpours since the atmosphere is loaded with moisture.
Once the rain chances go up through midweek, temperatures will finally start to drop.
Charlotte will be close to 90 on Tuesday but only in the mid-80s starting Wednesday. Highs below 90 degrees are expected all the way through the weekend.
