CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
A second look at Mecklenburg County's controversial revaluation will cost more than $250,000.
The re-examination comes after the county received thousands of complaints about properties being overvalued and increasing tax bills.
County officials said the audit will be thorough but will not change values from the 2011 revaluation.
"Kicking the can down the road doesn’t solve anything," property owner Jim Bensman said. "What assurances are there that they'd do it right the next time?"
County Commissioner Jennifer Roberts said depending on the results of the audit, the commission could ask for another revaluation in 2014.
