RUTHERFORD COUNTY, N.C. —
A cow is alive and well on Tuesday night thanks to the quick thinking of a Rutherford County homeowner.
Late Monday, Linda Lewis went outside and noticed a dog had chased the cow out of her pasture two miles away, all the way into the family's pool.
Lewis jumped in to hold the struggling animal's head up.
That is when she noticed a bull on the deck, watching them.
"Her partner was over there staring at me the whole time, and every time I got close to her, he was making that noise - -- I don't know whether it's a moo or what," said Lewis.
Lewis called 911 and 10 firefighters came out to rescue the cow.
She said she is putting up a fence.
