WAKE COUNTY, N.C. —
Monday night, nuclear regulators tried to calm fears about a huge crack found on one of Duke Energy's nuclear reactors in Wake County. It is a big concern for people in Charlotte too, because there are two nuclear stations in the area. At the Monday meeting, the NRC said the public is not in danger. The company shut down its Shearon Harris Plant a few days ago – one year after the quarter-inch crack was found. Duke said there was no leak.
