SOUTH CAROLINA —

Saturday could be the deadline for South Carolina to let people know if their tax returns were hacked, but it likely won’t be met.

More than a million of the 3.8 million tax payers whose information was breached live outside of South Carolina.

Some states have a 45-day notification deadline after a breach is discovered, which would be Saturday.

The governor's office said it had to wait to learn exactly whose data was taken, so it could argue the clock started ticking this past Monday when they found out that information.
