UNION COUNTY, N.C. —
Union County deputies swarmed a quiet Indian Trail neighborhood Wednesday afternoon looking for the young men they say went into one of the homes on Briarmore Drive with a gun.
"Our victim was forced into the bathroom of the residence at gunpoint," said Detective Wes Tyson, with the Union County Sheriff's Office.
Eyewitness News spoke with that 17-year-old victim and his mother off camera. He says he was expecting one of his friends Wednesday afternoon and had just opened the garage and unlocked the door when two of the suspects came in with a gun.
Police say the suspects took a video game station, the boy's cellphone, some money, and then ran.
The Union County Sheriff's Office says that Keith Gaines, 19, Kyle Holt, 18, and Jadarrius Williams, 20, are charged with armed robbery and second-degree kidnapping.
"We think one of the individuals was a little more familiar with our victim than the others," said Tyson.
Tyson said they believe the victim and one of the suspects knew each other from high school. The victim told Eyewitness News that is true.
Tyson said that while they were interviewing Gaines, they were able to link him to two robberies from 2011. The Union County Sheriff's Office said that a Dominos Pizza delivery driver was robbed of $20 and a pizza in July 2011 and a New York Pizza and Pasta delivery driver was robbed of a cellphone and $25 in October 2011.
The Sheriff's Office said Gaines is now charged with two counts of common law robbery for those.
Tyson said the Sheriff's Office was able to wrap the recent case up quickly because deputies were on the scene quickly and caught one of the suspects minutes after the alleged crime. He said they were able to track down the other two suspects shortly after as well as the car used in the alleged crime. He said a gun was found inside.
All three men are due in court in March.
