Dilworth community get more details on Walgreens plans
CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
People in Dilworth learned a little more Wednesday night about plans to build a new Walgreens at a busy intersection.
The developer wants to put the store at the corner of East Morehead and Kenilworth Avenue. However, neighbors complain a drive-through pharmacy will create a bigger mess in an intersection that is already congested.
The residents are also upset the developer would have to tear down five buildings, including an 18-unit apartment originally built in the 1920s.
A community leader said they are willing to work with the developer.
“It’s more of us looking to make sure the development will stay in line with the surrounding area and the fabric of the community,” said Tom Donaldson with the Dilworth Community Development Association.
The meeting was held at the Tom Sykes Recreation Center on Euclid Avenue.
