CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Advocates are inviting anyone whose life has been touched by domestic violence to place mementos on a tree honoring victims. The Mecklenburg County Domestic Violence Council lit a memorial tree on Monday night. The tree commemorates 53 lives lost to domestic violence this year in North Carolina, six of them in Mecklenburg County. Loved ones are encouraged to leave photos, poems, news articles or flowers on the tree. The tree is on display until Jan. 5.
