CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Police have arrested the man that they said caused a serious wreck in east Charlotte on Saturday morning.

Oscar Francisco Garcia-Fuentes is in jail.

Police said Garcia-Fuentes was speeding without his headlights on when he ran a stoplight on North Sharon amity and Albermarle Roads around 3:15 a.m.

Officers said he smashed into the driver's side of a Mazda, killing the driver, Tony Gabriel, and a child.

The baby's mother was also hurt in the incident but is expected to survive.

Garcia-Fuentes will be in court on Tuesday.
