CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Statement from Charlotte Area Bicycle Alliance
The Charlotte Area Bicycle Alliance (CABA) serves Charlotte and the surrounding counties of NC and SC as the region’s nonprofit bicycle advocacy and education membership association.
We have been serving this region since 1997. While we understand the frustration Mr. Cable is experiencing while driving on Providence Road during the morning rush hour, it doesn’t make sense to take away the rights of all cyclists because of one bad apple. The cyclist in the center of attention is not following the rules. His actions are causing a negative effect on our cycling community.
From CABA’s perspective, we welcome all opportunities to provide education for cyclists so they have the knowledge to ride safely. Our roads have many uses, including motorized and non-motorized vehicles. We all bare the responsibility of being respectful of each other.
