CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Hundreds of people in Charlotte will have a cooler home this weekend thanks to a major donation.

Electrolux donated more than 900 air conditioners to Crisis Assistance Ministries on Friday. So far, more than 300 people have picked up a free air conditioner at the facility on Dalton Avenue in north Charlotte.

One resident said she thought she was going to have to move since her home did not have an air conditioner.

“I’m very relieved and it’s a blessing for everyone,” said Angela Brown. “I actually saw a lot of elderly people there, and I thank God that they can get one because they need it more than anybody.”

People who need an air conditioner need to apply at Crisis Assistance Ministry on Spratt Street between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
