KANNAPOLIS, N.C. —

The EPA is continuing to remove contaminated dirt from a Kannapolis Superfund site at a mobile home park.

The government is removing more than 1,00 tons of soil due to hazardous waste.

Thousands of old car battery casings are buried in the dirt.

The work will last into next week, but residents said workers are continuing to dig on patches of ground to the south and west ends of the park.

So far the government has not found lead in the water.
