A public policy forum/town hall features local, regional and national experts and is the opening event of a remarkable three-day journey focusing on women and cancer in Charlotte Thursday through Sunday.
Shine for Women is presented by the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship and sponsored by Carolinas HealthCare System and Presbyterian Hospital. Saturday features a resource fair and an evening concert hosted by Bravo's Andy Cohen, followed by a day-long retreat for women with cancer at the Foundation for the Carolinas, focusing on health, wellness and well-being.
Cancer experts came together Thursday night in Uptown Charlotte for a town hall event at the McGlohon Theater.
Shine Concert & Resource Fair Andy Cohen, the ultimate celebrity insider and host of BRAVO's late-night, interactive talk show featuring guests from the world of entertainment, politics and pop culture, will perform in Charlotte for the first time Saturday, March 16, at the McGlohon Theater, 345 N. College St., at 7 p.m.
Women and Cancer Retreat The Women and Cancer Retreat consists of a multiple workshops and seminars designed to assist women cancer survivors and their family and friends on their journey through cancer. It will be held 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 17 at Foundation for the Carolinas, 220 N. Tryon St. The intimate sessions will focus on ways to improve survivors' health and quality of life, connecting them to resources and to each other. Sessions will be led by experts from Carolinas HealthCare System's Levine Cancer Institute and Presbyterian Cancer Center. Topics include Healthy Eating & Exercise, Yoga, Expression Through Art, Intimacy Through Your Cancer Journey, Natural Beauty and Becoming an Empowered Patient. The retreat is free of charge and open to the public, but space is limited.
