Tonight, new claims of safety problems with a ride at the North Carolina State Fair. The family of a worker who was critically injured tearing down one of the rides said the ride is dangerous and it is headed to a fair in Wilmington. The worker was injured on a ride called the Vortex but it is not the same ride that recently injured five people.
His family is frustrated that the ride has already been taken down without a more thorough investigation. Anesto Newell, 32, took the job tearing down a ride at the state fair to earn extra money, but early Monday, he was critically injured on the job and ended up in the hospital. The family believes a cable snapped and landed on him and family members said he was never properly trained to do the job in the first place. The family has hired an attorney to represent Anesto.
