Family of girl killed by dogs awarded $20K

The family of a 5-year-old girl killed by a pair of dogs has won a wrongful death lawsuit.

Last year, two pit bulls attacked and killed Makayla Woodard and injured her grandmother in the town of Waxhaw.

This week, a judge approved a $20,000 settlement in the civil case against the dog’s owner, Michael Gordon.

He is charged with involuntary manslaughter.
