STANLY COUNTY, N.C. —
A victim's family is upset after they said authorities have released few details about a murder in Stanly County. Tuesday, relatives of Jason Burleson told Channel 9 the Stanly County Sheriff's Office has provided little information on their investigation into how Burleson died and who is responsible. Residents are also on edge, telling Eyewitness News the lack of information has added to their unease about the homicide. "You get scared to even go out of your house, you don't know what to do anymore, ya know?" said resident Joyce Hamrick. Authorities said Burleson was discovered dead and duct-taped to a chair inside the basement of his grandmother's home on Groves Avenue on Sunday evening. Family told Channel 9 Burleson was staying at the home for the weekend and had last spoken with his sister by phone on Friday night. Investigators from the Sheriff's Office and the SBI have processed the scene for two days, but said they are awaiting autopsy results to determine a cause of death. "It's just disturbing that all this is going on ... it's just disturbing to everybody," Hamrick said.
