CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. —
The Caldwell County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a suspicious fire at a vacant home in the town of Sawmills.
Firefighters went to the home around 9:45 a.m. Monday after a neighbor reported seeing smoke coming out of the eves of the home. After battling the fire, firefighters called in the fire marshal to investigate.
Investigators have not determined who owns the home.
“The double-wide, modular home has been for sale for the past two years and was vacant at the time of the fire, which automatically makes it suspicious,” said Kevin Brown, the assistant fire marshal for Caldwell County.
Brown said the Fire Marshal’s Office and the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office would be working on the investigation.
No one was injured in the fire.
