CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Friday marks the first day of winter, and it feels like it in the Charlotte area.

Strong winds and cold temperatures will last all day, with a high of 46 degrees. Meteorologist Keith Monday said wind gusts near 40 mph are expected in Charlotte.

Higher gusts will hit the mountains, where snow will continue all day.

Temperatures will dip into the lower 20s overnight in Charlotte, and then warm to about 50 degrees on Saturday. For the full five-day forecast, click here.
