First Lady Michelle Obama will attend three events in the Charlotte area on Friday, according to a statement from her office.
She will arrive at Raleigh-Durham International Airport early Friday afternoon and deliver remarks at a Democratic National Convention reception in Raleigh.
According to the statement, she will be greeted by active-duty and veteran service members from all branched of the military.
The First Lady is expected to arrive in Charlotte around 3:30 p.m. and will join school children for a “Let’s Move!” pregame event during the CIAA Tournament.
"The CIAA, its Board of Directors, member institutions, alumni, students and fans are excited to welcome First Lady, Michelle Obama to our 100th Anniversary Celebration. This is a great moment in the history of the CIAA and we are honored to share such a memorable experience with Mrs. Obama," stated CIAA Interim Commissioner, Peggy Davis.
The tournament, in its hundredth year, is the oldest African-American athletic conference in the country and consists of historically black colleges and universities.
She will finish her day in the Queen City attending two fundraisers for the national convention.
