Football player remembered while team competes for state championship

SOUTH CAROLINA —

The memory of a South Carolina football player will be alive and well as his team competes for the state championship on Saturday.

In early October, Hartsville High School senior Ronald Rouse suddenly collapsed on the field during a homecoming game.

The 18-year-old died at the hospital and a coroner later ruled that Rouse died from cardiac arrest.

Players will honor Rouse's memory Saturday night by carrying out a flag with his jersey number on it.
