STATESVILLE, N.C. —
A Statesville mother is still looking for answers and trying to help her son who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run. On Sunday, the woman is holding a fundraiser for her son, Elijah Houpe, who was hit on North-Pointe Boulevard a year ago while riding a bike home from a friend's house. Houpe spent three months in the hospital and is now paralyzed. The Sunday dinner fundraiser starts at 1 p.m. on Rickert Street in Statesville. Money raised will help pay for Houpe's medical bills.
