CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A funeral service is planned Saturday morning for a Charlotte toddler who died in a hit-and-run crash almost a week ago.

One-year-old William Perry was in a car at Sharon Amity and Albemarle roads early last Saturday morning when another driver ran a red light and crashed into the car.

The boy and the driver, Tony Gabriel, died.

Police charged Oscar Garcia-Fuentes with several charges including felony hit-and-run and involuntary manslaughter.

The boy’s mother survived the crash and her family said she is improving after being in critical condition.

The funeral will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church on Hateras Avenue in north Charlotte.

It begins at 11 a.m.
