GRANITE FALLS, N.C. —
About 20 to 30 gallons of gas leaked into a Caldwell County lake after a truck rolled into the water, officials said.
Caldwell County Emergency Management said it’s assisting with the fuel cleanup at Lake Rhodhiss.
A truck accidentally rolled into the water around 11 a.m. while the driver was unloading a fishing boat at Gunpowder Wildlife Access in Granite Falls, officials said. Divers helped locate and secure the truck.
Officials said a sheen of gas could be seen on top of the water. Stat Incorporated of Hudson, a hazardous material clean-up company, is placing booms on the water to soak up the fuel, according to Caldwell County Emergency Management.
