CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Drivers will start feeling a little less pain at the pump this week, thanks to steadily dropping gas prices.

Prices are down eight and a half cents over the past two weeks.

Right now, the national average is $3.75 a gallon.

That's about 13 cents below the prices from last month. But it’s still 25 cents above prices from this time last year.

Right now, in Charlotte, drivers are paying about $3.64 a gallon. That's a little more than the statewide average of $3.62 a gallon.

In South Carolina, the average is $3.41 a gallon.
