CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
The price of gas has reached a new record, even before the Labor Day travel weekend.
AAA said drivers are paying an average of $3.72 per gallon.
That is the highest price on record for Aug. 20.
In Charlotte, drivers can expect to pay an average of $3.66 per gallon.
Statewide, the average is about 2 cents higher at $3.68 per gallon.
South Carolina prices are less around $3.43 per gallon mostly because of the lower gas tax.
