A woman said she is grateful to be alive after police said she woke up tied to a bedpost staring in the face of her fiancé as he repeatedly assaulted her.Her young children were in the next room.Justin Gowan faced a judge on Monday on nearly a dozen felony charged in connection with the alleged attack.On Monday, his fiancée told Channel 9 that she has no idea what made him snap. She told Eyewitness News how she finally escaped long enough to call for help.On Monday, a judge gave Gowan a quarter of a million dollar bond.His former fiancée said she is terrified of him and is hopes he doesn't get out."My children have been through enough," she said.Gowan's fiancée did not want her identity to be revealed. She talked about the ordeal on Monday and called it a living horror story.She said it began at daybreak Saturday when she woke and saw her fiancé Gowan tying her hands to the bedpost."I went unconscious over 4 or 5 times with him (choking) me," she said.She said he raped her repeatedly, and that her 5- and 6-year-old children could hear the attacks.She said the 11-month-old she has with Gowan was also in the house.She said Gowan had never been violent before.She has no idea what went wrong Saturday."He said he planned on hurting us," she said.According to arrest warrants, Gowan threatened to kill all of them saying, "We are all going to die and be out of pain."The woman told Eyewitness News that Gowan ran out of cigarettes and that he told her to go to the store and get more, and that he would kill the children if she tried to get help."He already told me if any of my friends showed up he would lock the door and bash my head in with a tire iron," she said.She said she drove to a store on Union Road near Lake Wylie, begged the cashier to let her call 911, then and went back waited for an hour and half when police knocked on the door.An officer told Gowan he was looking for a runaway seen near their home."They for him out the door and I didn't have to see him. It was done within two minutes. It was wonderful," she said.
