NORTH CAROLINA —

Gaston Memorial Hospital is rolling out a new policy for some visitors.

Starting Jan. 15 anyone planning to visit the hospital between 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. will have to register with security guards.

The visitors will be issued badges and officers will explain which areas are accessible.

A registration system is already in place in the ER, but the new police extends the procedure throughout the entire hospital.

The Gaston Gazette contributed to this report.
