GASTONIA, N.C. —
A Gastonia Shelter made room for people who had nowhere else to go on Friday night.
Eyewitness News talked to the director of As One Ministries on Friday.
She said they are out of mats and cots, but they are trying to make room, even allowing people to sleep in chairs to get out of the bitter cold.
"We can't let you freeze so we know that much. When we run out of mats and floor space you are welcome to come in you just have to sit in a chair," said director Angela Dreher.
She said a lot of homeless people who rely on friends and family for shelter on freezing nights are being turned away.
