Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Cam Newton signed a multiyear agreement with Gatorade, the drink’s parent company Pepsico announced Wednesday.
Newton won a Heismann Trophy at Auburn and was the first overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.
In his first professional season, Newtown went 6-10, but broke several rookie and quarterback records. He was also a 2012 Pro Bowl selection.
According to the release, the Gatorade Sports Science Institute is going to work with Newton on improving his performance on the field.
"Working with Gatorade fulfills a childhood dream of mine," Newton said in a statement released yesterday by the company. "Gatorade provides me the opportunity to work with the world's leading scientists, who can help me gain a competitive edge and play at my best."
