CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Groups that are considering buying Eastland Mall will get a chance Wednesday to see what it has to offer. The mall has been closed for years and the city recently bought the 80-acre property after other business models failed.Exactly what the property will be used for is still up in the air.At least two groups want to turn the property into film studios, but the city also expects other interest.Last month, parties interested in buying the property had to submit a request for qualification, which means how they would meet certain criteria set forth by the city for the available space. The city will look at the plans developers have submitted and come up with a short list by March of those that will be asked to submit full proposals.
