CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Heat is building in the Charlotte area, according to meteorologist John Ahrens. Many spots were close to 90 degrees Sunday with increasing humidity, which made it feel like 95. The trend will not change through much of the week, Ahrens said. A weak cold front will pass by on Monday, but it will not cool off the area much. Heat is not developing too many thunderstorms, though. Ahrens is also keeping an eye on the development of a future tropical depression off the African coast. The system already looks like one of the stronger ones seen so far this season. Ahrens will keep an eye for when the Hurricane Center issues it as a depression. It could turn into a tropical storm Sunday night or Monday. Follow more updates on the weather by liking the Severe Weather Center 9's Facebook page or following it on Twitter.
