A series of strong storms moved through the Charlotte area Thursday afternoon and evening, leading to several reports of downed trees and power lines.
Paramedics in Burke County responded to reports that someone was struck by lightning in the area of the Steele Creek Park and Campground.
So far, emergency officials have not confirmed that anyone was struck by lightning.
A person was taken to Grace Memorial Hospital.
The National Weather Service is also reporting multiple downed trees on Fish Hatchery Road in Burke County. In Newton, there are multiple trees and power lines reportedly down, the weather agency said.
In Gaston County, there are reports of numerous large limbs down at the intersection of Hardin and Philidelphia Church roads.
In Lancaster County, there were more than 3,000 Duke Energy customers without power at one point Thursday evening. Officials with the energy company said they did not have a definite cause for the outages, but said it was likely due to the storms.
Duke Energy said it expects to have power fully restored by 11 p.m.
