CONCORD, N.C. —
All lanes of Interstate 85 southbound are back open after multiple accidents occurred in the construction zone near mile marker 54 in Concord.Chopper 9 flew over the scene where a car could be seen flipped over and blocking two lanes near Davidson Highway in Cabarrus County.One other accident occurred nearby on the southbound side of the interstate. Two other accidents occurred nearby in the northbound lanes of I-85. The road was expected to be shut down until 5 p.m., but was reopened around 3:45 p.m.Backups from the accidents extend for miles.A detour was set up and police are still recommending drivers to take it.Motorists are encouraged to take Exit 68 to Highway 29 south, then exit onto Interstate 485 west to access I-85 south.
